When I arrived Friday evening at the popular Chico wedding venue Lakeside Pavilion for Michelle & Nicholas’ rehearsal practice, I realized I was just in time to witness the beginning of it’s amazing transformation. The Maid of honor was doing an excellent job and organizing tasks for everybody. Napkins were being folded, chairs wrapped in fabric and tied with burlap ribbon, tables were being decorated and photos were being hung from the window in a shape of a heart. So much was happening: I enjoyed sitting back and watching the magic happen.
Saturday morning came and it was the big day for this amazing couple. I was in awe of all the decorations and how fabulous everything looked. We were truly in wedding detail heaven. Everything, I mean everything, was thought out and executed beautifully. As the day went on, just like any other summer day in Chico, it got HOT. Luckily, the beauty of this venue is while the ceremony is outdoors, the reception hall is right there, which enabled people to cool off by going into the air conditioned building. The bride and groom even thought of a clever way for their guests to beat the heat during the ceremony: they had a cute sign that instructed their guests to grab a fan and a bottle of water.
Michelle and Nicholas provided so many amazing moments to capture. While planning our photo schedule prior to their wedding, I asked the duo whether or not they wanted to see each other before the ceremony: nope. Since they didn't want to see each other, I suggested they may want to consider a "No Look - First Look,” which always enables us to get some amazing photos of the couple all dressed up before the ceremony begins without them having to actually see each other. Michelle thought this would be a perfect opportunity to exchange letters they had written to each other, and I agreed. I was so excited to help create this moment! Using the corner of a hallway to obstruct their view of each other, Michelle and Nicholas exchanged their notes and I am fairly sure all who were watching got chills. It was truly a romantic gesture and I can only imagine how much it stoked their desire to say "I-Do.”
The ceremony was stunning with the Lake in the background and there is always a cool breeze blowing off the water. Reception time came and all the traditional events happened: toasts, cake cutting, first dances, etc. Once it was time to party, everyone was on the dance floor. You could truly see how much fun everyone was having and during dinner their wasn't an empty seat in the house. These two were truly loved by many. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
